Turner Construction Company is pleased to announce the completion of the 2016 Leadership Turner project. Leadership Turner strives to form a solid cultural foundation for our new employees at Turner Construction Company. This program encourages new employees to understand Turner’s high priority of giving back to the community.
For the last 8 years Turner Construction Company has been a committed partner with Nationwide Children’s Hospital and their Healthy Homes initiative to revitalize the community surrounding their hospital. On Saturday, August 6th, nearly 40 Turner staff members from Columbus along with a few from Cincinnati as well as over 20 subcontractor volunteers donated their time, equipment, and materials to make this annual project a reality. Gathering at a local community garden space at 9am, the teams set out to impact their assigned homes. With trucks and equipment running from house to house, delivering materials and hauling debris, the volunteers attacked each project as if it was their own home.
The resulting impact by the end of the day was one that was recognizable by the surrounding residents. Many expressed their excitement in seeing the improvement of the area in which they call home. Overall, it is an event that generates increased interest each and every year, while continuing to bond the community that it affects.
This event is organized by the Turner Leadership group in conjunction with Nationwide’s Healthy Home project coordinators. The volunteers this year were able to impact more than 10 homes with scopes including intensive landscaping. This is all performed in addition to the interior and exterior renovation work that is completed by the Healthy Homes program. To date, this initiative has impacted over 120 homes over a 31 square block area, improving the neighborhood and promoting a safer community.
