AGC members,

In our ongoing efforts to track the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic on the industry, we are asking all of you to please take a few minutes to complete the 5th edition of our member survey HERE. Your answers help us determine how best to continue supporting the industry and what type of federal support for which we need to advocate. Please complete the survey HERE by noon on Thursday, April 23rd.

Another busy week in Washington as prospects appear good for a new deal between Congress and the Trump Administration to boost funding for the Paycheck Protection Program loans. AGC has been a strong advocate for more funding and thanks to the many members who submitted comments via our action alert HERE. If you haven’t acted on this alert yet, there is still time.

The House is also holding hearings on a new Water Resources Development Act later this week. And the Department of Homeland Security issued, at AGC of America’s request, another update to its guidance on vital sectors. This new guidance makes it even clearer that construction is essential, as long as firms take steps to protect workers and the public from the coronavirus. AGC’s podcast, the Constructor Cast, Special Coronavirus Report, takes a look at these three issues and provides additional details. Watch it HERE. Listen to it HERE.

We continue to see press reports about how some in Congress are concerned that a provision in the CARES Act that AGC strongly advocated for—a 5 year net operating loss carryback—is a “handout to the rich” or something that will not have much benefit for contractors or other struggling businesses. AGC strongly disagrees, but we would like to hear directly from you about how your business could benefit from this provision. Share details with AGC’s Matt Turkstra at matthew.turkstra@agc.org.

And please keep sending us information about how your firm is supporting the fight against the coronavirus. If you are donating materials, helping expand new health care facilities or supporting first responders, please share your story with AGC’s Brian Turmail at brian.turmail@agc.org. And remember to share our new site on how the industry is protecting workers and the public, workingsafe.agc.org, with anyone you think appropriate.

Remember to keep reinforcing safety lessons with your team. The public is counting on our industry to protect workers, and them, from the coronavirus. There is no margin for error, so please make sure to meet regularly with your teams and reinforce the need for safe operations.

Please keep checking the AGC Connection app HERE and the AGC Coronavirus site HERE for the latest updates. Stay safe and stay healthy.
